Hi, I am Mary Isis. First and foremost I consider myself a student of life and secondly, an artist.
My life is blessed with the gift of Song.
I've been singing since before I could talk and then began making up my own songs once I had words.
Mostly the songs I sing are the inspired songs that come through me (as opposed to other people's songs.)
Nature is my biggest source of inspiration to my music.
Songs come to me easily and naturally when I am immersed in the beauty and wonder of nature.
I was born in the lands of the Ohlone people, in Santa Cruz, California
but for most of my life I lived on the land of the kānaka ʻōiwi, in Puna, on Big Island of Hawaii.
I now live a nomadic life, taking root in and around Santa Cruz, Sonoma and Humboldt as well the Big Island of Hawaii.
where I focus my energy with:
~ producing my visionary earth music
~ holding sacred ceremonies
~ assisting the dying with my singing, music & companionship,
~ crafting herbal botanicals

MORE ABOUT ME and my Philosophy...
Having received my bachelors degree in Natural Science with a Minor in Biology, I do possess a fairly extensive scientific knowledge of the Natural World, especially the Plant Kingdom (or shall I say Queendom?). I especially am quite knowledgeable with the biogeography of the Hawaiian Islands, since that is where I lived most my life. Since my teens I have been independently studying and working with plant medicines (and fungi!) and have cultivated a deep reverence for the healing and wisdom received from my communion with these teachers.
Even with my scientific studies and training, what I find of far more value is the element of WONDER and MYSTERY that can be experienced in Nature if one allows the senses to directly receive and experience it-
without naming, judging or analyzing it. In this way we can experience our own personal relationship to this creation and derive our own personal meaning from it- free from pre-conceptions or pre-judgements.
Science, in spite of all its amazing discoveries and applications still cannot explain a REASON and PURPOSE for our existence- To say all of existence was created from an infinitesimal speck with a "Big Bang" and has been expanding ever since only makes me beg the question, Why? and How? and furthermore- will any explanation from science ever suffice or give us the ultimate truth? After all, our collective paradigm (world view) that most people agree on, which explains our "reality" actually changes over time with newly made discoveries. So what we know of reality is actually relative with time. How we explain and regard reality changes based on what we (think we) know.
And so, when we are immersed in the moment of pure presence, of direct experience with what IS-
THAT is what I think is awe-some.
I think we all need some more AWE & Wonder in our lives!
